Intersection of Appalachian Road and Hillcrest Parkway
Intersection of Appalachian Road and Hillcrest Parkway, Winchester, United States
We’ll be continuing our fall workdays with work on a series of culverts along portions of the Mountain Bike Loop (Green), Reservoir Trail (Orange) and adjacent trails on Saturday, December 13th from 9 AM to 12 PM. We’ll be digging out some good sized culverts along with rock shopping and armoring (rock work) as well as cleaning out some drainage channels. A number of these culverts and channels are large but many have been clogged for some time.
We’ll meet at the trailhead at the corner of Hillcrest Parkway and Appalachian Road, which is labeled B2-2 on the DCR Middlesex Fells Map. (It's also where the Willow Spring Path starts.) There is plenty of street parking along Appalachian Road and portions of Hillcrest. Its about a 15-20 minute work to the work areas from the trailhead and we'll be carrying shovels and buckets.
Questions or comments, please contact Charlie at Y2hhc21jY2FiZSB8IGdtYWlsICEgY29t.
Please wear pants, tall socks, good sturdy hiking boots or sneakers, and clothes you don't mind getting dirty. We recommend bringing a full reusable water bottle, hat, sunglasses, and sunscreen. Charlie will have a water jug for refills and snacks to share.
Steady rain or lightning will cancel.
