We are thrilled to be hosting the celebrated “Sonas String Quartet” from The Guildhall School of Music and Drama London, who will join us in recital as part of our “Power of the String Quartet” cycle in Broadstone Music Series 2025-26.
In this 2025-26 series’ 2nd Broadstone Music recital, this quartet of young super star string players will focus on how each work paints an emotional landscape, from moments of deep personal reflection to bursts of communal joy, all within the confines of a string quartet.
The music emotional journey includes: Shostakovich 7th string quartet which paints a bleak introspective landscape, Jessie Monhomery’s “Break Away Cycle” offers a stark contest with a vibrant expansive soundscape, Ravel’s powerful quartet has sections that evoke both tension and beauty, and Haydn’s op 77 no 1 contrasts with a sense of joy, triumph, symbolising the ultimate liberation.
The string quartet will also lead some educational work with some of our Poole Society for Young Musicians chamber musicians who will appear at the recital.
