If you want to test your skills as a team and don’t like the idea of assessments, then a Dog Trailing Real-World Challenge might be for you.

Designed for more confident teams, these sessions will test your team’s mantrailing skills. You’ll have the opportunity to pit your team against the clock in challenges that will test you to your limits, but in a positive way, where there is no possibility of failure, unlike an assessment situation.

The Double-Blind Challenge allows you to score points based on difficulty and distance. You can't be influenced by anything other than your dog and your handling skills because the instructor doesn't know the route or where the runner is, either!

Everyone starts with a Novice Double-Blind, against the clock
If you find your runner within the course time, you will score points
There will be a winner in this session — the team with the most points — and everyone will enjoy success
We will ensure your dog is always motivated by ensuring the challenge is right for the team
You, as the handler, get to decide your team's strategy for your session, based on your own trailing ability

Dog Trailing Real-World Challenge sessions are designed to allow more confident teams to test their skills without formal assessments.

The Double-Blind Real-World Challenge is against the clock. Handlers have a set time to complete the challenge, and they score points for success. A session will last up to around two hours if three teams are booked.

Double-Blind Real-World Challenge sessions can run with two handlers who will do pet trails, so both dogs are out of the cars for the duration; otherwise, a maximum of three teams can join.

Handlers should be confident in all basic skills, including road crossings, working around people and other dogs and distractions — you may manage your dog if needed, but this will eat into your challenge time as it's against the clock!

As usual, your dog won’t be working for the full duration. During the session, you will take turns in all roles: trailing, hiding, watching and waiting with the dogs at the cars.
