Victorian All Hallows' Eve Wake
Join the Lower Cape Fear Historical Society for a Victorian All Hallows' Eve Wake at the haunted Latimer House Museum!
Costumed living historians in mourning will interact with guests inside the Latimer House Museum which is decorated for a Victorian wake, including black crepe covering the mirrors and a reproduction coffin in the drawing room.
Living historian Gary Riggs will recreate a Civil War field hospital and perform mock amputations in the gardens. Get you tarot cards read by Susan Wolff, a gypsy traveling through Wilmington. Check out mourning ephemera from the historical society’s collections, including four invitations to the funerals of Latimer children, a circa 1850 mourning dress owned by Elizabeth Savage Latimer, and our famed hair wreath!
Tickets are $55/person, which includes admission into the Latimer House Museum, entertainment, and hors d'oeuvres. Specialty cocktails, wine, and beer will be avaliable. Tickets may be purchased online at lcfhs.org or in person at the Latimer House Museum, Monday - Saturday, 10am - 3pm. All proceeds benefit the Lower Cape Fear Historical Society and the continued preservation of the Latimer House Museum.
