What is Reiki?

Reiki is a type of energy healing. Improving the flow of energy around the body can enable relaxation, reduce pain, speed healing, and reduce other symptoms of illness.

Reiki is a form of alternative therapy. It emerged in Japan in the late 1800's and is said to involve the transfer of universal energy from the practitioner's palms to their recipient. The word reiki comes from the Japanese words "rei" (universal) and "ki" (life energy).

Energy healing targets the energy fields around the body.

Energy can stagnate in the body where there has been physical injury or emotional pain. In time, these energy blocks can cause illness.

Reiki is approved by the National Center for Complementary and Alternative Medicine for pain relieving. Reiki is categorized as a biofield treatment. Reiki healing attempts to align and stimulate bio-magnetic energy flowing through the body, and this helps promote healing and lessen stress.
