Hosted by the Yellowstone Missouri Confluence Interpretive Center and held at Spring Lake Park Keelboat, participants will explore how the land beneath their feet tells a deep-time story, from ancient tropical seas and dinosaur-filled floodplains to the Ice Age landscape we recognize today. Through simple demonstrations and an interactive edible stratigraphy activity, kids will learn how scientists read rock layers, what the Williston Basin is, and how oil forms deep underground. Using prepackaged food items to build and explore real geologic layers, this program blends science, history, and fun into an engaging experience that makes big ideas easy to understand—and hard to forget!
