Community Parranda & Holiday Sing-Along!

Join us on Friday, December 5th from 6–9pm for a heart-warming evening of music, culture, and community at The River Room in Willimantic! Presented collaboratively by Music & More International, The Willimantic Latino Lions Club, The Latino Chamber of Commerce, Windham Cares, and The River Room, this special Parranda & Community Sing-Along celebrates the spirit of the holiday season with joyful bilingual music, treats, and opportunities to spread kindness.

The evening begins at 6:00pm with a lively Parranda, a beloved holiday tradition in Puerto Rico and throughout Latin America. Local musicians will gather at Garibaldi’s Mexican Restaurant (28 North Street) before traveling door-to-door to several downtown Willimantic businesses, sharing traditional Parranda songs, rhythm, and cheer. The procession will visit local businesses before concluding at The River Room at approximately 7:00pm.

From 7:00–9:00pm, pianist Ruth Hartunian-Alumbaugh and Kathleen Thompson will lead a warm and welcoming community sing-along, featuring bilingual seasonal favorites. Complimentary refreshments and holiday treats will be served, and all ages are welcome. While the event is free and open to the public, capacity at The River Room is limited—please reserve a FREE Sing-Along ticket online to guarantee your spot.
The River Room is wheelchair accessible.

A major pillar of the evening is supporting Windham Cares, which provides gifts to local families in need. We invite everyone to bring a new, unwrapped toy or non-perishable canned or boxed food items to help brighten a child or family’s holiday season!
