Snowshoe Wanders

Participants will begin indoors before gearing up for the walk. They will learn how snowshoes came into use and watch a demo of how to put them on and take them off. Once outside, assistance can be provided in strapping on the snowshoes. Participants will then receive a few tips on how best to move about in their snowshoes before setting out through the winter woods on a guided exploration.

This program offers a unique opportunity to try out a new method of travel during a time of year when it can be trickier to go for hikes. Snowshoes offer a way to get outside no matter how tall the snowdrifts are. Already own snowshoes? Not a problem! Participants are welcome to bring their own. The program fee is $4 per person and up to $12 per family, whether one chooses to use the center’s snowshoes or bring their own. Advanced registration is encouraged, as space is limited.
