- **Event Description**: Join Williamsburg Baroque at Bruton Parish on June 20 at the corner of the Palace Green in Colonial Williamsburg for a premier musical experience. “Deplorable Barabism and Delightful Recreation” takes its title from quotes about music from Jefferson and explores American composers from the new nation, including previously unrecorded works. This award winning program was recently featured at the Bloomington Early Music Festival. The highlight of the program is the performance of J.C.F. Bach’s “Die Amerikanerin” (the American Girl) which was composed by J.S. Bach’s son in 1776, likely as a nod to the American Declaration of Independence. In addition, Williamsburg Baroque is proud to welcome esteemed soprano Margot Rood, whom the Washington Post has praised her “sterling, gleaming tone and magnificent control.” Rood’s sublime voice has been included in recordings that have won numerous awards, including the Gramophone Award for Early Music in 2018, as well as numerous Grammy-winning and nominated albums. Rood will solo with Williamsburg Baroque in the rarely performed cantata.
