Warm up this winter with an afternoon of aloha. Join Ilima Young-Dunn for a special 3-hour cultural workshop that celebrates the beauty of Hawaiian traditions through basic hula, chant, and single-ribbon lei making. The class takes place in Williamsburg, near Marengo and within driving distance of the Des Moines area.
Ilima has been dancing hula professionally for more than 25 years, and her ʻohana hails from Waimānalo, Oʻahu. In this welcoming workshop, you will learn foundational hula steps, an oli (chant), and the cultural protocols of hula and lei making while deepening your connection to the spirit of Hawaiʻi.
No dance or crafting experience is needed. Bring your curiosity, open heart, and willingness to move.
