Central Cariboo Arts Centre

To gather in community and practice the
principles of listening, connecting, and
building relationships. In partnership with Sacred Rock Community Society, the Community
Arts Council of Williams Lake brings an arts-based focus to the
integral work of Truth and Reconciliation.

Wednesday March 11 - 10 am
Artist Talk - Weaver Atheana Picha - TRU Williams Lake

Earth Blanket Weaving Workshop - Atheana Picha  1 pm - $20 
Central Cariboo Arts Centre. Guided practice of creating a community art piece.

Atheana Picha is a Salish artist from the Kwantlen First Nation, and her grandmother was from Tsartlip. Atheana was given the name Nash’mene’ta’naht by Gerry Oleman from the St’at’imc First Nation, which translates to “Go-getter Woman”. Her works are featured at TRU Williams Lake as part of the Honouring Our Grandmothers Healing Journey - Secwepemc &amp; Kenkeknum Exhibition. https://www.atheanapicha.work/bio

‘Secwepemc and Kenkeknum’ Curators Talk
Nadine Spence will travel alongside the works included in 'Secwepemc &amp; Kenkeknum' Exhibition, layering meaning upon beautiful works that tie families to rivers, Nations to stories and kinship.

Thursday March 12 - 1 pm 
Black Bear Art &amp; Storytelling - Gathering Place @ TRU - $20
Share your stories of the black bear and create an art piece of a black bear. With Honouring Our Grandmothers Healing Journey visionary artist Nadine Spence. Basic paper, pencils, pencil and pencil crayons provide, you are more than welcome to bring your own. 

Saturday March 14 - 6 pm Exhibition Closing Ceremony + Refreshments
All welcome to witness the procession that carries the Community Chest to its next destination along the Healing Journey.
