She was shortlisted for the Art Foundation Futures Award for Place Writing in 2023. Her book of personal essays, On Belonging: Reflections of a Renegade Guide (2020), explores movement and belonging, and led to a writer-in-residence role at Southside House.She holds an MA in Creative Writing from Goldsmiths College and recently completed her first national writing commission as part of Beach of Dreams. Her work has been longlisted for the Queen Mary Wasafiri New Writing Prize. Saira has designed and facilitated creative workshops for Tate, the London Museum, South Downs National Park and Wimbledon Book Festival.
