Der Sound der 2005 in San Marcos gegründeten This Will Destroy braucht keinen Gesang, um einen umgehend in seinen Bann zu ziehen: Ihre monumentalen Klanglandschaften entwickeln einen ungeheuren Sog, der zusammen mit den epischen Arrangements wie ein niederschmetternd großer Soundtrack anmutet. Qualitäten, die die Texaner stilistisch in die Nähe ähnlich gesinnter Bands wie Godspeed You!, Black Emperor, Explosions In The Sky oder Mogwai rücken. Ihre Stücke schleichen sich zunächst subtil an, um im weiteren Verlauf rasant an Dynamik, Komplexität und Härte zuzunehmen.
Zu ihrer stetig wachsenden internationalen Fanbase gehören inzwischen jede Menge prominenter Namen, unter anderem Robert Smith, der This Will Destroy You 2018 höchstpersönlich ins Vorprogramm der The Cure-Hyde Park Show einlud.
Jetzt kehren This Will Destroy You zurück, um ihre wegweisenden Alben „Young Mountain (2006) und „Another Language“ (2014) in voller Länge darzubieten.
Etwas jüngster sind die in Paris ansässigen Mascara, die Metal, Shoegaze und Alternative Rock zu ebenfalls äußerst dichten, emotionalen Soundscapes auftürmen. Ihr Debütalbum „Going Postal“ erschien diesen März bei Fever Ltd.
