With shadow work, the way out is the way in.
Giving permission to see our shadow allows us to build awareness of what’s going on internally and the stories around it. Bringing movement into the equation allows us to actively transform it.
Inertia sticks me to the floor so l lean into its weight and let my body melt into a fluidity where everything can continue.
Tension shoots through my body so I accept it and use it as fuels to carve my path and rediscover my structure.
Confusion spins me out of control so l catalyse the directions to find out where l’m meant to be within the chaos of life.
Distraction lures me into checking out so I follow the mystery back into myself, becoming the lyrical poem I always knew I was.
Numbness assures me it’s better not to feel so l slow everything down into sacred understanding and find mySelf in pure stillness.
Tim Barnes is a dancer, DJ, DIY motorcycle mechanic and horse back adventurer with more questions than answers. He uses embodiment as the palette of his artistry and is committed to walking his talk. From a nothing to shout about background, the 5Rhythms practice shook his world in 2012 and offered the opportunity to tune into the beat of a deeper mystery.
Coming to the practice after years of travelling, years of uprooting, years of trying to find himself, the rhythms offered a place of stability and excitement in equal measure. A structure to be unstructured. He believes our bodies are bodies of wisdom, and when we use them as such we can transform and transcend.
