KESSELRAUM is an intimate, all types of bass music club series featuring an inter camp/label line up every three months in the vienna city center. The idea for the name developed from the boiler in the basement room where the first non-public party took place. It is as well the direct german translation to the legendary BOILER ROOM, a huge global sound movement which we respect.

"Bass music is any of several genres of electronic dance music and hip hop music arising from the 1980s on, focusing on a prominent bass drum and/or bassline sound. As one source notes, there are "many different types of bass music to fall into, each putting a different spin on one of music's loudest elements". Typically, the bass sound is created using synthesizers and drum machines such as the influential Roland TR-808."
Furthermore a lot of the foundation of later styles is rooted in Jamaica due to the Dub and Soundsystem culture movement. Influences that enriched the UK and US music scenes and spread all over the world. Those cultural goods were brought by migrants.
People historically were forced to migrate due to slave trades, in the windrush generation or by "postcolonial" poverty or war. The bass music development was also guided by certain music technology innovations (TR-808, Ikutaro Kakehashi, MPC, Roger Linn). We should not forget where it came from and we can be very grateful that this music styles developed and celebrate it.
