Defend Democracy ICT, along with our friends from Sedgwick County Young Democrats, Leading Kansas, Families Belong Together, Sunflower Community Action, NO ICE in ICT, and many other community partners, are coming together to host No Kings Day 3.0 in Wichita, Kansas.

EVENT PLAN

Based on strong feedback from participants, this event will take the form of a distributed presence along the Douglas corridor, rather than gathering everyone into a single plaza location.

Participants consistently told organizers they want to walk the sidewalks, engage the community, and maintain a visible presence along the route — similar to how many past Defend Democracy ICT actions have taken place.

Rather than trying to funnel people into a single space, we are planning the event around how participants are already indicating they intend to participate.

Participants will have three options to gather and participate, with everyone ultimately joining together along Douglas Avenue downtown.

Families Belong Together March

Rally Point (No March)

? Gathering begins Downtown Wichita along Douglas, starting near Douglas & Broadway and spreading along the corridor.

Participants are welcome to gather anywhere along Douglas and join the action as the marches arrive downtown.

Sound will be set up to project beyond the park so participants along the Douglas corridor can hear.

WHY WE’RE ORGANIZING

In 2025, millions of Americans rose up in nonviolent protest to oppose growing authoritarianism and to affirm that this nation belongs to its people — not to kings.

Communities across the country continue to organize in response to ongoing abuses of power and threats to democratic institutions.

No Kings Day 3.0 is part of a nationwide organizing effort leading up to the next mass mobilization on March 28, including a flagship action in the Twin Cities coordinated by the national No Kings Coalition.

A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action. We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events.

Weapons of any kind — including those legally permitted — should not be brought to events.
