Get ready for a spooky good time at Park After Dark! From 6:00-6:45 pm, choose your own adventure and visit our fun, family-friendly education stations:
- Creepy Crawly Bioindicators: Learn how to “Ask the Bugs!” Stormwater SMART will share tips about the best kind of creepy crawlies, called bioindicators, and what they can tell us a lot about the health of our lakes and streams. The only thing that scares these little critters is POLLUTION! Stop in for hands-on activities and horrify your family with how much you learn!
- Whoooos that? Listen closely…can you tell which owl is calling in the dark? Discover the haunting hoots of local owls and uncover the amazing adaptations that make them silent, skillful hunters of the night!
-Spooky Spinners: Discover why spiders are more fascinating than frightful! Find out what makes a spider a spider and how these eight-legged creatures use their sticky webs and stealthy moves to catch dinner.
- Wicked Creations: Unleash your creativity at our arts and crafts station! Dive into a cauldron of spooky supplies and craft a Halloween surprise!
- Campfire Treats: Gather around the fire to create s’mores so good it’s scary.
Once the sun sets, the real adventure begins! At 6:45 pm everyone will gather to learn about the eerie glow of animal eyes at night, then set out on a walk through the park to see which glowing animal eyes are watching you. It's a perfect mix of Halloween fun and nature exploration - ideal for families looking to make magical fall memories!
Be sure to bring along layers appropriate for the weather, sturdy closed-toe shoes, insect repellent, water bottle, and a flashlight! Costumes are optional!
The group night hike will be about 30 minutes, cover 0.6 miles with some hills.
Space is limited. Registration ends on Friday, October 31 at 5 pm.
