What a Puppy Agility Program Involves...

A puppy agility program focuses on building the groundwork for agility, not jumping or using the full-sized equipment. Puppies will learn tunnel, into to weaves, mini A-frame with assistance, low jumps, balancing, target, intro to place. 

Focus and Attention:

Teach your puppy to focus on you amidst distractions, using treats for positive reinforcement when they make eye contact. 

Confidence and Independence:

Encourage your puppy to go around objects or step onto things to build confidence and independent problem-solving skills. 

Body Awareness and Balance:

Get your puppy comfortable with moving in new ways and walking on various surfaces, including crinkly tarps or slick floors, to improve balance and coordination. 

Familiarization with Obstacles:

Introduce concepts like low-to-the-ground jumps and short tunnels, always using positive reinforcement and high-value treats. 

Communication:

Teach your puppy to respond to your body language and verbal cues, strengthening your teamwork and bond. 

Why Start with Foundations?

Physical Safety:

Full agility training with large equipment can be physically demanding and risky for growing puppies, especially for their joints and bones.
 
Mental Conditioning:

Focus on building skills like attention, problem-solving, and forward-focus, which are crucial for future success in agility. 

Strengthening the Bond:

Agility training is a fun way to bond with your dog, and starting early with foundational work makes the process more enjoyable and effective.
