Learn basic movements of Odissi, a 2000 year old dance style from Orissa India. Known for its flowing movements, sculpturesque postures, exciting foot patterns and beautiful hand gestures this dance practice will enrich your movement vocabulary whether you're a yoga practitioner, dancer or wanting to move your body in new ways.  We stomp our feet on the earth activating and healing our whole body; we undulate our torsos massaging our internal bodies; we use our neck, eyes and hands symbiotically helping to build new neural pathways. This dance style UPLIFTS, ENRICHES and RELEASES you. 
We start each day with a healing somatic meditation and basic stretches. 
Devaki has been studying, choreographing and performing this and other classical Indian dance styles for over 40 years in Canada and the UK. She is also a Dance Movement Psychotherapist and brings healing modalities into this workshop to deepen your connection to yourself.
