The First Nation of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun is proud to host two independent sessions on how recent Yukon court cases have impacted the responsibilities of mining operators in the territory. These sessions will provide a detailed overview of the Metallic Minerals, Michelle Creek, and other relevant Yukon court cases that have affected mining in the Yukon. Further, sessions will provide an understanding of the First Nation of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun's Mining Policy, and how FNNND's recent MOU with Yukon Government to initiate land use planning, impacts operators and investors.
We are also happy to host a half-day event focused on the ongoing unanswered questions and issues surrounding the Eagle Gold Mine Crisis.
How mining is done in the Yukon is changing. Yukon First Nations have a greater role to play now than ever before. Understanding how these changes impact First Nations and mining operators alike provides an opportunity to move forward in collaboration and towards Sustainable Development while trying to avoid further litigation.
The First Nation of Na-Cho Nyäk Dun is NOT against mining, but will not tolerate repeating past mistakes with lax regulations.
