The Last Musician of Auschwitz: Movie & Talkback with HERC

How could there be music in one of the darkest places in history? This powerful documentary shares the stories of those imprisoned at Auschwitz who found strength, hope, and humanity through music during the Holocaust. Through the words of survivors and newly filmed performances of works composed in the camps, the film explores how music became a lifeline—offering testimony, resistance, and a means to preserve dignity in the face of unimaginable cruelty. Filmed at poignant locations around Auschwitz, the documentary weaves themes of loss, longing, and remembrance into a moving reflection on the resilience of the human spirit.
