Tellus Science Museum Presents Lunch and Learn: Coral Reef Conservation

WHAT DO ATLANTA'S MARTA TRAINS AND HAWAIIAN CORAL REEFS HAVE IN COMMON?

More than you might think!

Join us for Lunch + Learn with Dr. James W. Porter, UGA Distinguished Professor of Ecology and Emmy award winner, as we explore the surprising story of why old MARTA train cars are being repurposed to create homes for fish, sea turtles, and coral off the coast of Georgia! You’ll also hear about real-life ocean conservation efforts happening at Molokini Coral Reef State Park, like removing old bombs from the water, and how Georgia is playing a key role in helping restore these magical underwater worlds.

Stick around after the talk to paint your own MARTA train car, reimagined as a colorful coral reef habitat.

The Lunch + Learn lecture begins at 12:15 PM. No outside food is allowed but you are welcome to buy lunch in the Café and bring it into the lecture, or just come hear the lecture. All Lunch + Learns are FREE for members and included in regular admission for non-members. Presentations are recommended for ages 8 and up, unless otherwise indicated.
