Your workshop facilitator: Rebecca Fortin is a fine art botanical artist who is gaining recognition for her botanical casts. Rebecca will be sharing this unique art technique using fresh plants, clay and plaster for you to create your own masterpiece. Under Rebecca’s guidance, you'll create beautiful botanical casts by pressing fresh plants into wet clay, capturing their intricate details. After carefully removing the flowers, you'll then pour plaster over the impressions to form stunning reliefs, ready hang or can be painted later once the plaster fully dries. Each cast is a one-of-a-kind, and participants will leave with either two unpainted 4-inch round casts (ornament size) or one unpainted 6-inch round cast, along with instructions for painting at home. Painting your cast is optional, as they look beautiful with the untreated plaster and with a few drops of an aromatic essential oil it can be used as an air freshener. For those who want to dive deeper into painting techniques for your botanical cast, join Rebecca back on the farm — when the elderberries are in their full glory — to paint your botanical cast(s). Save the datefor an optional botanical cast painting session: Sat, Sept 12 from 1:00 – 3:30 PM (Cost for additional workshop: $75 per person, only open to those who attend the July workshop.) Pre-registration required. Spaces are limited to ensure a personalized experience. What’s Included: • 4-hour facilitated creative arts workshop, with all supplies included. • Your choice of 2 smaller botanical casts (ornament size) or one larger botanical cast. All botanical casts will be ready to hang. • Information on how to paint your botanical cast, if you choose. With the option to come back to the farm to attend an additional painting workshop. • Day-pass to our farm’s 70+ acres of walking trails for contemplation and relaxation.
