Introduction to Leatherworking w/ Steph

Thanks for your interest in CRFT130: Intro to Leatherworking!

This 2-hour beginner class will introduce you to the foundations of leatherworking tools and techniques through making a DIY leather luggage tag project from start to finish. We'll cover everything from purchasing and selecting leather, patterning, embossing, forming, saddle stitching, finishing leather, and more.

At the end of the class, makers will take home their own custom leather luggage tag!

At the end of the course makers will have firm knowledge on the following:

• Selecting and purchasing the right leathers and hardware for your project
• Patterning and cutting leather
• Forming and embossing leather
• Attachment methods, including saddle stitch, rivets, glues
• Punchin' holes, setting rivets
• Finishing edges and sealing leather

Hi, I’m Steph. I’ve been an artist and maker my whole life, and specialize in ceramics, painting, pattern drafting, and leather working. I studied oil painting/multi-media art (so basically I used to glue rope to walls for 6 hours a day!) and currently work as a graphic designer. I recently moved to CO from Boston, and am excited to spend more time outside and hike all the good trails. When I’m not at CCM, you can find me in the ceramics studio or in the garden with the cats.
