An inclusive, drop‑in folk music class celebrating community, shared learning, and the rich global tradition of session music. This special edition centres belonging, cultural connection, and joyful music‑making in a space that supports LGBTQIA+ participants and allies.
Participants explore the roles of melody instruments (such as fiddle, mandolin, whistle) and rhythm instruments (such as guitar and bodhrán), alongside core techniques, session etiquette, and ensemble skills. This weekly class builds a living repertoire of session‑worthy folk tunes commonly played in pubs, festivals, community centres, and campfires around the world.
Each session is structured in two parts:
Hour One: Learn a new tune from scratch, including structure, feel, and technique.
Hour Two: Revisit previous tunes, gradually building them from slow learning tempo up to session speed, strengthening ensemble awareness and confidence.
Participants are welcome to attend either hour or both.
