Classic Car TIG Welding Workshop (2-Day Practical Course)

Experience the art of classic car restoration at Brooklands Museum, the birthplace of British motorsport and aviation.

This practical introduction to TIG welding focuses on repairing classic car chassis and bodywork. Under the guidance of our experienced instructor, you’ll gain the confidence to tackle your own restoration projects.

Course Aim:

Learn all the skills required to have the confidence to take on your own classic car body repairs. You’ll learn to TIG weld multiple joint types in both 1mm steel and 1.5mm aluminium, focusing on relevance to classic car projects.

With a small class size, we offer a tailored course led by our experienced team.

Objectives:

• Gain an understanding of the theory surrounding the TIG welding process, including machine setup, torch assembly, material differences, and settings
• Produce mild steel TIG welded joints
• Produce aluminium TIG welded joints
• Possible TIG brazing
• Happy to discuss own projects and give recommendations
• Small group sizes resulting in high-quality teaching and support

Tutors: Experienced tutor from the restoration industry

What to Bring

• Suitable workshop clothing
• Please bring your own steel toe-capped boots and preferably fireproof jacket/overalls, welding helmet, and gloves – we can provide the last 3 items, but please be aware these are shared and not new.
• If you wear glasses - please bring them along for learning to weld
• You can buy lunch on site at the cafe or you're welcome to bring your own and use microwave and kettle facilities
