WEXFORD UKE FEST 2026 Ukulele Workshop 1 - Finger Picking

Ready to take your ukulele playing beyond simple strumming? This hands-on workshop will introduce you to the basics of finger picking, teaching you simple patterns to add texture and sparkle to your music. Perfect for beginners, we’ll cover proper picking technique, easy exercises, and a few fun songs to practice your new skills. So don’t put it on the long finger - bring your uke, and let’s get your digits dancing across those strings!

James is one fifth of Dublin’s original ukulele supergroup Ukeristic Congress. Gigging since 2009, they are festival favourites at the Dublin Ukulele Festival - Ukuhooley by the Sea - where they have performed on numerous occasions. They also stole the show at the Ukulele Festival of Great Britain in Cheltenham. Having honed their craft with a two year residency in Whelan’s of Wexford Street, they regularly feature at the Irish Ukulele festivals, and many musical festival events up and down the country.

The Ukeristics have been featured with live spots on Newstalk, Nova, Dublin City FM and Radio na Life. Favoured by RTEs Nationwide, they've guested on many TV and radio shows over the years and were lucky to be selected to play on The Gig Train for the RTE big music week.
