- **Event Description**: You are invited to visit the McCandless/Northern Allegheny Heritage and Cultural Center with "Friends of Markman Park and Marshall Township".   As a past volunteer at the center and present administrator of our Markman Park Facebook page, I am excited to help you enjoy the visit to the fullest.  The visit if free; there is a donation box by the door. 

We will take a look back at our local history, remember things from the past and learn new things about the region that you were not aware of.  The little library in the rear of the Heritage Center has a vast collection of yearbooks from N. A. and many other local school districts. We can explore local history books, and other interesting articles while we're there.  

There is always an array of items and photographs that tell stories from the past - many of which you may be familiar with.  Some of you might even be part of those stories.  The volunteers at the center are always receiving new material and creating new displays.  This is a place that is great to visit with friends and/or acquaintances - even if it's just Facebook acquaintances.  

We will drive there separately, or people can arrange to carpool if they want to.  If someone needs a ride please reach out and we can attempt to coordinate one with other attendees.  

I will be stopping at Chub's diner at 12:15 pm for a quick bite to eat before we head across the road to the Heritage Center.  I'd love to have you join me there. If you know where the batting cages are in North Park,  then you know where Chub's Diner and the Heritage Center are.  You can see one place from the other.  I plan to attend that day whether or not anyone cares to join me - but I hope to see you.
