Lough Nafooey Rocks!

A geology field trip around the Lough Nafooey Valley and Joyce Country region with Dr Sadhbh Baxter.

Embark on an educational field trip of Joyce Country’s world-renowned geological landscape led by Dr. Sadhbh Baxter. The trip introduces guests to diverse geological features that make the region a candidate for UNESCO geopark status.

Dr Sadhbh Baxter is a geologist in the School of Natural Sciences in the University of Galway, and has a particular interest in making geology accessible to all. As well as teaching in the undergraduate programmes (which include fieldskills training in the Finney area), she directs and is the principal lecturer for a Diploma in Earth & Ocean Sciences, a part-time course run through the Centre for Adult Learning and Professional Development. For the past 4 years, she has also taught at a summer school through Oideas Gael in Gleann Cholm Cille in Co Donegal 'Ár nOidhreacht i gCloch/Our Heritage in Rock', and is on the scientific committee for the Joyce Country and Western Lakes Geopark.

Bus transport will be provided, and lunch and refreshments will be available.
