This is a warm and intimate cabaret style evening; an opportunity to enjoy great music and meet new friends. ------------------ We are very pleased to welcome Hugh Ball in his return to the stage after an absence of much too long from performing live. As a veteran of the Montreal music scene, Hugh Ball has covered a wide range of musical styles in his career. After starting in a cabaret show, Mr. Ball went on to front two original bands; The Martinis (83-85), What It Is! (86-88), and recorded a solo album in 1990 (Hypnotized, Justin Time Records) at the legendary Record Plant Studios in NYC with an all star back up band. After many years away from music, Mr. Ball found himself back onstage in Old Montreal leading a jazz trio; and over the next 20 years, he assembled a unique and eclectic selection of songs from the mid 20th century. Now backed by a stellar trio of jazz players, Mr. Ball is thrilled to return to the stage with an evening featuring two sets of some of his personal favourites. You absolutely won’t hear this anywhere else. Opening the night, and also marking his return to live music is BBAM! co-owner Ralph Alfonso (vocals/bongos) with an eclectic set of beatnik jazz featuring Steven Lee Rachel on stand-up bass and Camila En Blanco on flute and backing vocals.
