Qui est Heejung Jung?

Née et élevée en Corée du Sud, Heejung a commencé son parcours dans le mouvement dès son jeune âge à travers le Hapkido, un art martial coréen polyvalent qu’elle a pratiqué pendant plus de dix ans. Sa passion l’a ensuite menée vers le hip-hop avant de découvrir les danses swing, notamment le Lindy Hop, approfondissant sa compréhension de la connexion, du rythme et de l’improvisation.

C’est lors d’un voyage à New York qu’elle tombe amoureuse du West Coast Swing. Inspirée, elle retourne en Corée et fonde Westie Korea en 2009, devenant l’une des pionnières du développement du WCS dans son pays.

Aujourd’hui, Heejung voyage partout dans le monde pour enseigner et inspirer des communautés émergentes et établies. Reconnue pour son style unique influencé par le hip-hop, sa créativité audacieuse et sa musicalité ludique, elle offre des ateliers souvent décrits comme “out of the box” : amusants, engageants, inspirants et axés sur le développement de la confiance des danseurs.

Who is Heejung Jung?

Born and raised in South Korea, Heejung began her movement journey through Hapkido, a versatile Korean martial art she trained in for over a decade. Her passion later expanded into hip-hop dance before eventually discovering swing dancing, including Lindy Hop, where she deepened her understanding of rhythm, connection, and improvisation.

During a trip to New York, she unexpectedly fell in love with West Coast Swing. Inspired to share it, she returned home and founded Westie Korea in 2009, becoming one of the pioneering forces behind the growth of WCS in Korea.

Today, Heejung travels around the world teaching and inspiring dancers in both emerging and established communities. Known for her fearless creativity, playful musicality, and distinctive hip-hop influence, her workshops are often described as “out of the box”—fun, engaging, confidence-building, and transformative.
