- **Event Description**: Thank you for your interest in Empty Bowls!

On Sunday, February 22, First Congregational Church of Westfield and the local pottery community, coordinated by potter Anne Kelly, are partnering to host the first event of its kind in Westfield: Empty Bowls, a community meal with a purpose to combat hunger and raise much-needed funds in support of the Community Food Bank of New Jersey, in Hillside.

Guests purchase a ticket, receive a hand-crafted pottery bowl to keep, and enjoy a warm bowl of soup together. This simple, shared meal is a powerful reminder that hunger is real - and that, together, we can help fill empty bowls in our community.

The handmade bowls (and cups for kids) are being crafted at multiple “Throwdowns,” sponsored by Newbury Pottery and Westfield’s own Have A Nice Clay. Potters have donated their time and talents, and the studios have donated materials. These custom-made bowls are currently in the middle of their long process of creation before they’re ready for the sale, but they are being handled lovingly by our local pottery community in support of the Community Food Bank of New Jersey.

Empty Bowls is recognized worldwide for its partnerships toward contributions to local food-related charities… changing the world by sharing, caring, and touching the hearts of people in our community.
