**a little context**

At the end of last year, just before we went back to France, I told my wife I’m in total creative decay and desperately need an outlet. In a serendipitous breath of fate, my favorite and most beloved contemporary artist of all time was having an exhibit in a tiny gallery in Paris while we were there. We made it to the gallery just before it closed and I was overwhelmed to say the least, big-eyed and starstruck. We bought a painting, I came home and said, I’m going to paint. I’ve never taken a single art class or have any formal training, I just decided, this is what I’m going to do. I’m going to paint. ?

The very next Monday, I went and bought an easel, some cheap brushes and went into a total frenzy. After that, I painted almost every single night for five months straight, from 8pm-10 (my only free window) and here we are. 

Since then, I’ve churned out around 30 pieces, some huge ones even. Most average around 18x24”, but there are at least 6 that are 4’ feet+. —— so BIG works. 

Now I don’t want to be perfect or a realist, and my style might not be for everyone, but I’m so excited to share these pieces with the people I love most & a tidal wave of street traffic. French wine and incredibly loud/dreamy music included. All 25(ish) works will be for sale.

How would I describe my style? A lot of clean line work to frame the chaos of a wild brush and streaming ink. Heaps of layers. People & ghosts, powerful mammals & lots of birds - often on the same canvas. Essentially capturing how figures in my dreams might look, and doing my best to recreate them in their surrealist environment, on a blank surface. 

I might be crazy, but I feel like I’m onto something here. Life & God willing I hope to someday say these were my “early works”. ? I mean - they literally are, even if some have been completely painted over and restarted 3-4x. 

More specific details to come on time & space. The exhibit will take place in a brick/mortar studio in downtown Westerville. This is during a 4th Friday, so the street is shut down and there will be heaps of vendors and other fun things to do when you’re done with me! ?
