Would your scout like to earn their bird study badge? Our merit badge counselors are certified. While completing this badge with the nature center, scouts will learn about birds, their connections to the natural world, tips for identifying them, go on a bird field trip with other scouts, use binoculars and a scope, and have a chance to see birds in their natural habitats. This year’s field trip will focus on winter ducks and possibly raptors. One parent is required to join their scout for the field trip for the purpose of driving to 2-3 locations, locally within a small geographic area. Equipment will be provided. During the workshop day at Rancocas, scouts will have a half hour lunch break and two 15-minute breaks. Scouts should bring lunch, snacks, and drinks and dress appropriately for both indoor and outdoor activities.
