- **Event Description**: For this year’s Mountain Trip, we’re going back to West Yellowstone, and adding more members and more options to the trip!!! 

We’re currently planning on splitting into 3 Groups while we are there:

Group A- Experienced Mountain Riders.  This group will be riding off-trail only. Mountain sleds, full Avy gear, and prior Mountain riding experience required!!!

Group B- New Mountain Riders- This group will arrange to have a guide take them out for days 1 and 2 (possibly the third day as well if the group decides this.). The guide will get you into some “easier” terrain, and can help you learn how to ride off-trail. On day 3, members of this group can choose to ride together with the experienced mountain riders if they feel comfortable, with the guide again, or they can choose to go on a trail ride with Group C. If you plan to ride with Group B, you should also plan to have full Avy gear before venturing into the back country!

Group C- Trail Riders- This group is trail riding only. Head out and enjoy the mountain views, and the extensive trail system West Yellowstone has to offer! Trails are in safe terrain, and Avy gear is not required to ride with this group. 

After the days ride, the 3 groups will meet up again at the hotel to head out for dinner and refreshments somewhere in town in the evening. 

***Friday night*** We plan to reserve the back room at Bullwinkle's to do a large group dinner like we did last year!!

The club is staying at the Best Western Dessert Inn. Rooms are about $120 per night. I believe we have a group of 12 rooms reserved on a block. GROUP DISCOUNT CODE IS " BUFFALO SNOWRIDERS" or "BS". All rooms in the hotel are double queen rooms. Please book your rooms as soon as possible to make sure you get one.  (You may be able to book a room last minute as well, it all depends on snow conditions and how booked up they are!!)

The Best Western has breakfast, and we’ll eat at the hotel in the morning, typically around 7am, and be ready to ride around 8am. 

Rentals can be found at Yellowstone Adventures, which is about a block away from the hotel. Let us know if you plan on renting sleds, and what type of sleds, and I can try to get a group rate setup. ****We will be riding Thursday- Saturday, February 26, 27, 28. ****

***If you are booking a rental sled, call and get the sled rented first, and ask for the package deal for the room at the Best Western Desert Inn.  You will get a discount on the sled rental, and the hotel, which will make the hotel room almost free.  But, you must book this package through the rental shop, Yellowstone Adventures.**** There are other rental shops available in West Yellowstone, but this is the closest shop, and an easy walk from the hotel.

It’s a solid 16 hour drive assuming we have good weather and roads.  Plan on meeting to depart Buffalo by 4 or 5AM on Wednesday February 26th. I would highly suggest not booking your room at West Yellowstone for Saturday night. What we’ve been doing the past few years on our trips is checking out on Saturday before we ride, and departing to start the drive back on Saturday after we ride.  We try to drive about 6-8 hours back on Saturday evening, which puts you around Dickinson, ND.  We’ll pull in and get rooms in Dickinson to get some sleep, and drive the rest of the way home on Sunday.  With the time change coming back, it’s hard to leave West Yellowstone on Sunday morning because it puts you back so late at night on Sunday night.

If you wish to fly out and rent- you can fly to Bozeman and rent a car there to drive down.  It's roughly 1.5 hours from Bozeman to West Yellowstone.  Or- if you are able to fly in when someone will be driving through Bozeman you may be able to hitch a ride.  Flying in to Idaho Falls is also and option, and a similar drive to West Yellowstone.
