5:30 pm - 8:30 pm
Location: SPCA Serving Erie County - Education Center
300 Harlem Road
West Seneca, New York 14224
Presented by: Dr. Scott Doyle and Dr. Jennifer Lopez
This lecture will provide an overview of artificial intelligence in veterinary medicine, focusing on how AI tools are developed, applied, and evaluated in clinical practice. Dr. Scott Doyle will explain how AI programs are created, with particular emphasis on how diagnostic data are used to build interpretive systems and predictive algorithms. He will review the advantages and limitations of these technologies and discuss important considerations for their use in veterinary settings.
Dr. Jennifer Lopez will then explore the AI programs currently available to veterinarians, as well as emerging tools on the horizon. Her presentation will address common questions around reliability, accuracy, and practical limitations of AI, helping attendees better understand how these technologies can support—rather than replace—clinical judgment.
Learning Objectives:
Understand how AI programs are formulated and written
What are the limitations of AI in, for example, diagnoses and predictive value
What is available to veterinarians now for use in our practices, and what can we look forward to in the near future
Attendees will receive 3 NYS CE credit hours.
A recording of the lecture will be available to members after the event.
