- **Event Description**: Go wild with us as we consider the three ‘W’s that make good whiskey: water, wheat (and other grains), and wood!About this EventJoin Women Who Whiskey Twin Cities and Lost Woods Whiskey at the Dodge Nature Center on Wednesday, October 7 to explore how the natural world makes whiskey possible.“Eating is an agricultural act” - a quote made famous by the late Wendell Barry, a Kentucky farmer, environmental advocate, and poet- has since been adapted by brewers and distillers alike, since drinking distilled spirits or brewed beverages also involves consuming agricultural products.Participants will enjoy a short hike to learn how oak trees yield aging barrels, how peat moss flavors Scotch, and how different grains (corn, rye, barley) shape a spirit's profile. Please wear comfortable walking shoes and be mindful of weather conditions.7:45 pm - 8:30 pm - Whiskey program and tasting. This portion of the event will be indoors.8:30 pm - 9pm - Post-event social (and s’mores roast) around an outdoor campfireAmple surface parking is available at the Nature Center - additional parking and wayfinding details will be shared closer to the event.Women and non-binary folks only, please. She also leads the “Women in the Woods” series of educational activities, which aims to introduce or invigorate women's love of and curiosity about nature.About Lost Woods WhiskeyLost Woods Whiskey, a brand created with respect for the grain and the earth it comes from, aims to bring people together in the great outdoors. In fact, a portion of the proceeds from each bottle sold is donated to organizations supporting reforestation efforts.
