What is Little Lanterns?
Little Lantern School of Theatre is a group dedicated to building creativity and confidence through teaching a love of theatre. Directed by Grace Loukota, through different series of workshops, we aim to teach kids of all ages the art of theatre through games, skit/short plays and musicals, hands-on activities, technical lessons, and more.
Why do we exist?
We exist to create a space for everyone to learn and grow. Theater can be a wonderful place to learn how to be yourself without judgement and find belonging with others who are similar to you and radically different. It can teach confidence, compassion, how to harness imagination, and much more. To build bridges and create long lasting friendships, helps build stronger communities.
Who runs Little Lanterns?
Grace Loukota is heading up the project. She has partnered with the West Plains Playhouse for theater space and logistic support. She started ballet when she was 2 and dance was her creative outlet for 10+ years, learning tap, jazz, theatrical, ballroom, and country swing. Her first theatrical show was “Cinderella”, a musical set in 1950 with Prairie Fire Children's Theatre. She has since worked in many roles on stage, and behind the scenes in the theater under 18 different directors and music directors. She’s worked at summer camp for the past three summers in a row teaching campers ages 5 - 17 a number of different outdoor and horse related skills. Passionate about passing skills and knowledge down to the next generation this is her most ambitious and exciting project yet!
