Eastern Iowa Community Colleges’ (EICC) English Language Acquisition (ELA) classes can help you improve your English speaking, reading, and writing skills—all at no cost. Whether you’re looking to enter into the workforce or continue on with your education, our programs provide the foundation you need to realize your potential. 

We hear it all the time: Our instructors are the best. That’s because they care about you and your success, inside and outside of the classroom. You’ll find that one-on-one discussions, small group work, and computer instruction drive the program’s curriculum. Everything you learn will promote better English communication skills, as well as:

▪️Conducting business 
▪️Work-related communication 
▪️Civic engagement 

No matter how busy you are, we make it easy for you to attend class. The ELA program is offered oncampus and live online. To take classes online, you’ll need a computer or tablet, camera, microphone, and reliable internet access. If you don’t have internet, no worries! There’s free access to Wi-Fi and computer technology at all of our locations. 

The best part is, this program is free for those who qualify. That’s right—all materials, instruction,  technology access, or pre-assessments are offered at no cost to you. Visit eicc.edu/ela or call your local location for more information.

Ready to get started? 
1. Go to eicc.edu/ela and click on the REGISTER NOW link. 
2. Complete our easy, online registration form (Step 1). 
3. Schedule your reading and listening assessments. 

Once you complete these steps, we’ll get you enrolled in classes. If you don’t have internet access, you can come to any of our locations and we’ll get you registered on-site.
