There are no steps to learn, no choreography to follow, and no need to “know how to dance.” Instead, you are invited to listen inward, follow the rhythm, and allow your body to express, release, soften, play, shake, sway, rest, or move in the way it most needs. This practice is often done barefoot and in silence, meaning there is no talking on the dance floor. Phones are put away, substances are left out of the space, and each person is invited to honor their own body, boundaries, and inner experience. Together, these guidelines help create a safer, more present container where everyone can explore movement with freedom, respect, and care. Because Sunflower Studio is an intimate space, this gathering will be limited to 20 participants. If you’ve ever been curious about Ecstatic Dance but have felt nervous to attend one of the larger, more established dances in Salt Lake, this may be a beautiful place to begin. The evening will be welcoming, beginner-friendly, and gently facilitated from start to finish. We’ll begin in circle with simple guidelines, intention-setting, and cacao. From there, you’ll be guided through an embodiment exercise to help you arrive in your body before moving into the Ecstatic Dance practice. DJ Ebenflow will guide the movement journey with an intentional soundscape designed to help you drop into the body, follow the rhythm, and move through waves of energy, expression, release, and integration.
