- **Event Description**: Join us at Woolgars Farm near West Horsley for a day of native hedgerow planting!About this EventSurrey Hills Society is continuing to work with local landowners and farmers to plant native hedgerows across the Surrey Hills National Landscape, now as part of the Surrey Hills Ranger Service. This will create vital wildlife corridors, as well as provide food and shelter for a variety of wildlife.Hedgerow planting is a fun activity, suitable for individuals, friends, families or small teams and a great way to enjoy the beautiful Surrey Hills landscape. Native hedgerows will help to support and encourage species such as barn owls, hedgehogs, and dormice.We would love it if you could join us and the local landowner in planting a variety of native tree species for nature to enjoy - no prior experience necessary!Where to meetAt Woolgars Farm, Blakes Lane, off the A246.What3Words location: ///nearly.basis.periodGOOGLE MAPS PINWoolgars Farm, Blakes Ln, West Horsley, KT24 6EAGetting hereIf travelling by car, parking is available at the meeting location. If coming from the A3, Blakes Ln is a right hand turn off the A246, just under a mile past Hatchlands, a National Trust property. If coming from the West Horsley direction, Blakes Ln is the second turning after the roundabout with the Lotus car dealers.What to bring/wear:Wear warm, old clothes and appropriate footwear wellies or walking boots as it is likely to be muddy and wet! Please wear waterproof clothing.Please bring a reuseable cup for tea/coffee.Waterbottle.Gardening gloves. We have plenty of spare but some people prefer to wear their own.Further information:Tea, coffee and biscuits will be provided. Please contact us if you have any allergies.There is a 10-15 minute walk from the car park to the planting area. Please aim to arrive on time so we can all walk up together.There will be access to a toilet near the parking area, a walk away from the planting site.Children are welcome. Under 16s must be accompanied. 16-18 year olds can attend alone with a signed consent form. Please email volunteering@surreyhillssociety.org if anyone under 18 will be attending.No dogs please.Please Note: If it is high winds, or the ground is frozen or covered in snow on the day, the event will be postponed. Please do not smoke at this event.Photographs will be taken on the day for social media and marketing. Please let a member of staff know if you do not wish to have your photograph taken.We look forward to seeing you there!
