The BUgette is a fresh new venture from Brisbane Unplugged Gigs Inc, created to champion acoustic-style live music and further connect with acoutic music lovers and the younger Bohemian crowd in West End. We're all about growing Brisbane’s underground acoustic scene and creating a safe, vibrant space where creatives can connect, celebrate each other, and maybe even jump into a session or two.
THE FORMAT
The format for the evening is very similiar to The BUg (New Farm):
6.30pm - doors open (bar is actually open from 4pm)
7pm - up to 3 blackboard acts - 10 minutes max, 2 songs max. See the MC for a spot.
7.45pm - first featured act - Georgie Taylor band
8.45pm - second featured act - The Inadeqautes
Hosts: Kristy and Elyse from The Salty Sirens
THE VENUE
The venue is The End Bar, 73 Vulture Street, West End - gig home of The Salty Sirens. They will also be the hosts generally for the evenings.
The End is a laid-back bar in West End, known for its craft beers and cocktails. Its industrial-chic vibe is softened by lush greenery, vintage leather couches, a layered timber bar, and quirky nods to its past life.
THE FEATURE ACTS
8:45pm The Inadequates
The Inadequates, (Lawson Mackriell, Marcus Church & Jackson Church) are an award-winning trio known for their energetic performances and innovative acoustic sound. Growing rapidly within the Australian folk scene, they have been likened to bands such as Nickel Creek, Mumford & Sons and Punch Brothers (but much worse). With a catalogue of intricate original music focusing on their tight 3-part harmonies and technical skill, the boys are currently producing their first album which they plan on releasing within the next year (to rave reviews). They perform in their signature bright suits and feature banjo, mandolin, guitar and accordion, nearly all at the same time too (clever boys!). The Inadequates have become favourites at a variety of folk festivals.
