Through our work exploring neighbourhood ecologies in Sandwell and the wider Black Country, this workshop seeks to trace decades of work in collective care and nature stewardship through the educators and stories held in the journals.Facilitated by Laura Onions, this gathering invites educators, environmentalists, artists and curious participants to engage creatively with the Journals and the wider Sandwell Valley environment. Mapping ecological memories, remixing archival texts, and developing responses through drawing, writing and material exploration. We will identify personal and collective connections and discuss the relationships between our local ecologies and the ways we learn with and through them. In ‘The Good Ancestor’ Roman Krznaric defines the acorn brain as the human capacity to think long-term and beyond our own life span - an ability ‘wired into us.’ It is a vision that echoes the ethos of the National Association for Environmental Education, whose work continues to cultivate awareness, responsibility and care for future generations.Practical Info & Accessibility Everyone is welcome and no prior experience necessary.All materials and refreshments will be provided.
