Sitar Brothers Jugalbandi Concert

The Komal Rishabh Music Society presents a Sitar Jugalbandi concert by the grand disciples of Padmabhushan Ustad Abdul Halim Jaffer Khan, in celebration of his life in music.

Rohan Dasgupta and Deepsankar Bhattacharjee have teamed up to showcase one of the rarest and most challenging styles of sitar playing, known as 'The Jafferkhani Baaj ', invented and introduced by none other than Padmabhushan Ustad Abdul Halim Jaffer Khan. The performance features the ornate melodic progressions, intricate techniques, and unique bandishes of the great Jaffer Khan, alongside the natural dexterity of the duo.

Their dedication and reverence towards this art form have earned them numerous accolades from around the world, making this a compelling story that reflects their musical journey as brothers.

Tabla accompaniment will be provided by Subrata Bhattacharya, an exponent of the Farrukhabad gharana. He received his initial training under Shri Tamal Krishna Chatterjee, Shri Nripen Karmakar and Shri Tapan Kumar Banerjee before he was accepted as a pupil of tabla maestro Pt. Shankar Ghosh.
