Celebrate the warmth and spirit of the season with Irish Christmas from Corktown — a joyful evening of music, song, and dance featuring eight exceptional performers from the Irish music community.
This festive concert brings together traditional Irish tunes and beloved Christmas songs from both Ireland and America, performed by a stellar lineup of award-winning musicians, singers, and dancers. The evening will feature lively step dancing by internationally renowned performer Nic Gareiss and the talented Erin Simpson, as well as beautiful seasonal vocals from Katie Else.

Performers
Seán Gavin
A master of the uilleann pipes, Irish flute, and tin whistle, Seán Gavin is among the most respected figures in Irish traditional music. The first musician born outside Ireland to win the Seán Ó Riada Gold Medal, he is also the founder and director of the Irish Music Institute in Michigan.
Hannah Harris
Irish fiddler and singer Hannah Harris blends technical skill with soulful expression. A graduate of University College Cork with a master’s in Ethnomusicology, she performs and teaches internationally and is celebrated for her authentic Irish lilt and engaging stage presence.
Michael Gavin
A multi-instrumentalist and long-time educator, Michael Gavin brings decades of experience in fiddle, banjo, guitar, and bouzouki. A member of the popular band Blackthorn, he has shared the stage with leading Irish musicians and continues to inspire through both his performances and teaching.
Mick Gavin
Originally from County Clare, Ireland, Mick Gavin has been a cornerstone of Detroit’s Irish music scene since the 1970s. A respected fiddler and melodeon player, he has mentored generations of musicians and was inducted into both the Midwest Comhaltas and Michigan Irish American Halls of Fame.
Nic Gareiss
A Michigan-born dancer and ethnographer, Nic Gareiss is internationally acclaimed for his innovative approach to traditional step dancing. Drawing from Irish, Appalachian, and other percussive dance forms, Nic’s work bridges tradition and contemporary artistry, bringing rhythm and storytelling to life on stage.
Erin Simpson
A dynamic Irish step dancer, Erin Simpson brings energy, precision, and grace to the stage. Performing alongside Nic Gareiss, she adds rhythm and movement that perfectly complement the music’s spirit and drive.
Siobhán McKinney
A four-time All-Ireland Champion on the Celtic harp, Siobhán McKinney is known for her lyrical playing and dedication to passing on the tradition. She has performed at leading festivals, collaborated with orchestras, and taught countless students in Michigan and beyond.
Katie Else
Former lead singer of Riverdance and an accomplished performer of both classical and traditional music, Katie Else brings a rich, expressive voice to the ensemble. Her performances of Irish and American Christmas songs add warmth and depth to the show’s festive atmosphere.
