Talking to young people about their sexual health can be a daunting experience. In this training, we draw on our 50 years of expertise of talking to young people about their sexual health and provide a comprehensive overview of the information that you need to know in order to work effectively in this area.
Brook's Puberty sessions aim to teach young people about their bodies and how they change, including how thoughts, emotions and behaviours may change/develop through puberty. Sessions also aim to encourage young people to consider the diversity of bodies and experiences of puberty.
By the end of this training you will be able to;
Describe ways in which people can experience puberty differently, including those who are transgender.
Identify body parts and explain their function to young people.
Differentiate between scientific terms and slang / familial terms for parts of the body.
State why it is important to use scientific terms for parts of the body in some contexts, such as RSE.
List a range of menstrual products (including alternatives to Tampons and Sanitary Pads) and explain how they are used.
