As we look forward to the next season of New Tampa Jazz Nights, the Tampa Jazz Club is excited to present a special summertime concert, the debut of the SIMON LASKY NEW YORK QUINTET, on Wednesday, July 1. This series is presented by Tampa Jazz Club and the New Tampa Performing Arts Center and has drawn large and appreciative audiences since the Center opened its doors in 2023. 

Pianist SIMON LASKY has become a big part of the Bay Area jazz scene since his arrival from London in 2018 with a fellowship to study with USF composer Chuck Owen. The years since have seen Simon performing widely in Florida and developing a signature sound with his original music. In 2024 his 3rd album, “For The Dreamers,” received acclaim in both the U.S. and the U.K. 
While in New York early this year Simon met kindred spirits, artists who are in the thick of the jazz scene and who were drawn to him and his music. The next step in his journey is the formation of this new ensemble, featuring trumpeter DAVE SMITH, saxophonist LUCAS PINO, bassist PETER SLAVOV, and drummer JIMMY MACBRIDE along with SIMON at the piano. The New Tampa show includes Simon’s new originals and music from the recent album, along with arrangements of jazz standards. An added treat is an appearance by his longtime collaborator and Bay Area favorite, vocalist ALLISON NASH.
