Play Descriptions:

Macbeth: The Witches (Act 4 Scene 1)

Macbeth follows a Scottish nobleman whose ambition is awakened after a prophecy foretells that he will become king, setting him on a path of murder, guilt, and madness.
In this scene, three mysterious witches gather around their cauldron to brew a sinister potion, chanting one of Shakespeare’s most famous incantations.

Romeo and Juliet: The Queen Mab Speech (Act 1 Scene 4)

Shakespeare’s timeless tragedy tells the story of two young lovers whose romance is threatened by the bitter feud between their families.
On their way to a masquerade ball, Romeo, Mercutio, and Benvolio exchange playful banter before Mercutio launches into his dazzling speech about Queen Mab, the fairy said to bring dreams to sleeping minds.

Hamlet: To Be or Not to Be (Act 3 Scene 1)

Prince Hamlet returns home to find his father dead and his uncle on the throne, leading him to question duty, justice, and the meaning of life itself.
Alone onstage, Hamlet delivers his famous “To be or not to be” soliloquy, reflecting on life, death, and the uncertainty of what lies beyond.

Merchant of Venice: Hath Not a Jew Eyes? (Act 3 Scene 1)

In Venice, a merchant’s desperate bargain with the moneylender Shylock sets the stage for one of Shakespeare’s most complex stories of justice, mercy, prejudice, and revenge.
After enduring ridicule and discrimination, Shylock responds with the powerful “Hath not a Jew eyes?” speech, challenging those around him to recognize their shared humanity.

Midsummer Night’s Dream: Pyramus and Thisbe (Act 5 Scene 1)

In this beloved comedy, fairies, lovers, and amateur actors become entangled in a magical night of mistaken identities and comic confusion before everything is happily resolved.
To celebrate the Duke’s wedding, a troupe of enthusiastic amateur actors performs the tragic tale of Pyramus and Thisbe—with hilariously disastrous results—before Puck closes the evening with Shakespeare’s famous epilogue.

Auditions will be at Avalon Park Wesley Chapel Community Center, 5227 Autumn Ridge Dr, Wesley Chapel, FL 33545-3210

Roles Available:

Macbeth

First Witch: Mysterious, playful, and unsettling. A leader among the trio who delights in mischief and the supernatural.

Second Witch: Clever and mischievous, with a dry sense of humor. Enjoys the ritual as much as the magic itself.

Third Witch: The most enigmatic of the three, bringing an eerie calm to the group’s dark work. Can be quiet and watchful or delightfully unpredictable.

Romeo and Juliet

Romeo: A romantic dreamer whose emotions are always close to the surface. Thoughtful and sincere, he finds beauty and meaning in everything around him.

Mercutio: Brilliant, charismatic, and endlessly imaginative. A natural storyteller with razor-sharp wit who can turn from hilarious to haunting in an instant.

Benvolio: The voice of reason among his friends. Good-natured, loyal, and practical, he tries to keep the peace while enjoying the adventure.

Hamlet

Hamlet: Intelligent, introspective, and deeply conflicted. A thinker who wrestles openly with life’s biggest questions, inviting the audience into his private thoughts.

Merchant of Venice:

Solanio: A quick-witted Venetian merchant with a sharp tongue. Comfortable mocking others and quick to judge, he embodies the casual prejudice Shylock faces every day.

Solarino: A fellow merchant and companion to Solanio. More measured than his friend but equally dismissive of Shylock, he helps set the stage for one of Shakespeare’s most powerful speeches on justice and humanity.

Shylock: Proud, intelligent, and deeply wounded by years of prejudice. A passionate speaker whose fierce sense of justice and humanity makes him one of Shakespeare’s most compelling characters.

Midsummer Night’s Dream:

Peter Quice: The earnest director and organizer of the mechanicals. Well-intentioned and determined to keep the performance on track despite every obstacle.

Nick Bottom: Fearlessly enthusiastic and utterly convinced of his own talent. A born entertainer whose confidence far exceeds his abilities, making him irresistibly funny.

Francis Flute: A good sport who is persuaded into playing a role he’d rather avoid. Earnest and endearing, with plenty of comic potential.

Tom Snout: Practical and dependable, willing to take on whatever role is needed—even if that means portraying a wall.

Robin Starveling: Shy and somewhat overwhelmed, but eager to contribute to the performance. An understated comic presence.

Theseus: The Duke of Athens and gracious host for the evening’s entertainment. Intelligent, observant, and amused by the mechanicals’ sincere efforts.

Hippolyta: Confident, poised, and perceptive. She watches the proceedings with warmth, wit, and quiet amusement.

Demetrius: One of the young lovers whose romantic entanglements have finally been resolved. Relaxed and read to enjoy the festivities.

Lysander: Another of the young lovers, now happily reunited with his beloved. Good-humored and eager to celebrate.

Hermia: Strong-willed and loyal, with a spirited personality that balances tenderness and determination.

Helena: Thoughtful, hopeful, and quick to see humor after the chaos of the enchanted forest has passed.

Robin Goodfellow: A mischievous fairy whose playful magic has driven much of the evening’s confusion. Charming, quick-witted, and delightfully unpredictable, Puck closes the performance by inviting the audience to imagine it all as a dream.
