About the location:

Starting and finishing in Chapeltown park, you’ll also explore the old railway line, and the woods, before heading out on a longer loop to take in the old colliery on top of the hill. Sandwiched between Chapeltown and the motorway, it’s a surprisingly scenic part of Sheffield.

How to get there:

The park is a short walk from Chapeltown centre. 

A train from Sheffield (8:39am), passing Meadowhall (8:45am) will arrive in Chapeltown at 8:51, giving you plenty of time to walk or jog over to the park. 

The 86 bus will also get you from Sheffield City Centre to Chapeltown in time for registration. 

If you’re driving, please try and car share, and note that parking will be on the residential streets around the park. Please park considerably. 


Terrain/Route:

This has a bit of everything, grass, tarmac, woody trails, muddy trails, and coal(!). The route starts with a lap of the park, then heads down the Trans Pennine Trail (TPT), and up into the woods. Lap 1 then sees you on some woody, muddy trails flowing through the woods, followed by a short steep climb, and drop back down onto the TPT. Passing the entrance to the park, lap 2 goes further up into the woods. A steep but short drop and then a nice long section through the woods and towards the scout camp. Looping back round and heading uphill you’ll see the first glimpses of the colliery fields. Passing the inevitable burnt out car, you’ll enter the coal field itself before heading back down to the park, with another lap of the park to finish.

Facilities:
We'll have somewhere to leave your bags. This is unlikely to be covered, and although someone will be there for the duration of the race, belongings are left at the owners risk. 
There are public toilets at the bottom of the park, which is pay for entry. Unverified whether they are currently open so rely on them at your own risk too.
