Adding a deeply local touch, we’ll perform Glenn Kelly’s evocative Columbia River Suite – a five-movement masterpiece composed in 1973 by our former music director. This piece captures the river’s majestic power, beauty, and significance to our Washington landscape, economy, and communities, while drawing timeless parallels to human resilience and purpose. It’s a profound reflection that’s especially resonant here in the Columbia River region!

The evening builds to an exhilarating crescendo with Peter Boyer’s GRAMMY-nominated Rhapsody in Red, White, & Blue – a 17-minute piano and orchestra powerhouse commissioned for the centennial of Gershwin’s Rhapsody in Blue. Bursting with jazzy rhythms, bold colors, and patriotic optimism, it’s performed by virtuoso Jeffrey Biegel, who commissioned the work and is touring it nationwide as part of the 50 States National Initiative. Pure American spirit!

As part of our education initiative, the talented Wenatchee Valley Youth Orchestra joins us for Nkeiru Okoye’s Charlotte Mecklenburg – a special side-by-side performance with our pros, inspiring the next generation of musicians right in our community!

Kick off the night at 6 PM with our Prelude! pre-concert talk and Q&A featuring WVSO Music Director Nikolas Caoile at the Numerica PAC. Dive into program insights, and enjoy a pop-up art exhibition by the Arts Alliance before the show and during intermission.
